General Session II at EconVoyage

For years, IMPLAN has been getting questions about occupational data. A lot of questions. And the whole time we’ve been working hard to provide our clients with more comprehensive insights into the workforce. Finally, IMPLAN has embarked on a new effort which will advance our world-renowned annual data set to its greatest heights yet: the IMPLAN occupational data suite!

We will be hosting an entire session called Presenting IMPLAN’s Occupational Data Suite at EconVoyage to explore some of the details of this ambitious addition to the capabilities of IMPLAN data.

Presented by regional economist and data development expert, James G. Squibb III, this exclusive EconVoyage session will discuss some of the methods and goals of the project, and will highlight some of the research benefits of these improvements to IMPLAN’s employment, wages, hours worked, and competencies data.

Jimmy Squibb joined IMPLAN in 2014 and currently serves as Director of Global Economics. He works on U.S. and international data development, new product development, and analytical support. Before joining IMPLAN, Jimmy conducted policy analysis for the state government of North Carolina. He received an A.B. in Economics from Davidson College and an M.T.S. in American Religious History from Vanderbilt University. Jimmy and his team have been hard at work developing this comprehensive data collection to augment all future IMPLAN data sets. Honestly…this is a huge deal, everybody. IMPLAN data has never offered workforce insights like these.

The project aims to give analysts the ability to examine regions’ advantages over other regions with regards to industry recruiting, evaluate gaps economies might fill, and assess which areas have the right workforce for new businesses.

Plus, during the presentation Jimmy will be sharing some analytical processes to show this data in action and offering some additional types of analysis that can be applied to your own projects!
