Opening Session at EconVoyage 2018

IMPLAN Team

We all love Francois Quesnay, don’t we? And naturally, Wassily Leontief is probably one of your favorite economists, right? Wait, you don’t know these guys? So, I’m guessing you’ve never heard of the Tableau économique either… Okay, you’ve got to come to this session.

At EconVoyage 2018, IMPLAN’s own expert economist, Drew A. Varnado, Ph.D., will teach you about all of those things, and more, during his session, The Evolution of Input-Output Analysis: Past, Present, and Future. This session is going to be so good that we’re opening the whole conference with it. Drew joined IMPLAN in 2015 as a Regional Data Economist. Today, in addition to being an economist, he also operates as a manager on IMPLAN’s elite Product Team, a group devoted entirely to developing new products and improved tools for our customers. For real, this guy’s such an asset that he’s not only making sure IMPLAN stays awesome…he’s inventing brand new stuff for us.

From its beginnings in France, its travels through Russia, and its Nobel Prize winning applications in the early 1970s, input-output modeling has quite a story. Come learn about I/O modeling’s myriad of uses through history, its widespread adoption in today’s business and academic landscapes, and possibilities for the future as it grows alongside advancements in technological systems in modern economics research and applications.

As I/O modeling’s reach broadens and more varied audiences begin to apply it, it’s more important than ever that a concerted effort be made to develop more integrated applications and to educate researchers, developers, and the public about the foundations and uses of input-output economics so that its future can be as bright as its past and present.

The Evolution of Input-Output Analysis: Past, Present, and Future  will be presented on 2 March 2018 from 9a – 9:50a and is open to all attendees at EconVoyage 2018. If you haven’t registered for EconVoyage yet, there’s still time to do so.  Explore pricing options HERE before it’s too late!
