We’ve gone back and re-estimated past years’ data using the most current raw data available, including revised values from key federal sources like the Census Bureau and the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA). That means there’s no need to rely on projections because actual year-specific data informs each estimate. Our Time Series Data draws directly from finalized inputs that match each specific year, giving you greater fidelity across time.

Additionally, we’ve incorporated methodological improvements adopted over the past five years, ensuring that the entire time series is built with consistent processes. This includes alignment with the latest IMPLAN sectoring scheme and household income groups, which is especially critical for researchers conducting longitudinal or statistical analysis. Our updated data also reflects important changes in how we treat sensitive or non-disclosed values—such as no longer estimating suppressed County Business Patterns (CBP) records or using CBP by legal form of organization—enhancing the transparency and integrity of our estimates.

We’ve also integrated the latest BEA Benchmark Input-Output tables, which anchor our models in the most robust and up-to-date foundational data available. And for those comparing the 528 and 546 industry sectoring schemes, it’s worth noting the additional validation steps we’ve taken to ensure the quality of trade flows between regions using our Gravity Model.
